Role Overview

As a Cybersecurity Specialist at Johnson Solutions, you'll bring deep technical expertise and insights to both clients and candidates. You’ll evaluate, assess, and recommend cybersecurity talent and strategies, serving as a trusted advisor throughout the recruitment lifecycle. Your role will involve both candidate assessment and market intelligence gathering to support cybersecurity hiring across a range of clients.

Responsibilities

  • Talent Evaluation & Assessment

    • Conduct technical reviews and assessments of cybersecurity candidates, including penetration testing, threat modeling, vulnerability management, and incident response techniques.

    • Consult with clients to understand their cybersecurity stack—and advise on alignment between client needs and candidate skill sets.

  • Market Intelligence & Talent Advisory

    • Maintain current knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS), regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI), and emerging threats and best practices.

    • Advise clients on prevailing salary trends, certifications (CISSP, CISM, Security+, etc.), and sought-after expertise (cloud security, SOC operations, DevSecOps, etc.).

  • Candidate Development & Guidance

    • Provide feedback and coaching to cybersecurity candidates throughout the interview process—helping them highlight their skills, certifications, and accomplishments effectively.

    • Guide candidates on career pathing in cybersecurity, from entry-level analyst paths to leadership roles in cybersecurity engineering and architecture.

  • Collaboration & Communication

    • Work closely with recruiters and account managers to align hiring strategy with cybersecurity trends and client culture.

    • Maintain transparent and timely communication with both clients and candidates throughout sourcing, interviewing, and offer phases.

  • Process Improvement

    • Contribute insights to enhance the recruitment platform’s matching algorithms—especially around cybersecurity competencies and credentials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity, such as as an analyst, engineer, consultant, or recruiter specializing in cybersecurity roles.

  • Hands-on understanding of security domains: SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanning, firewalls, DLP, incident response, IAM, cloud security, etc.

  • Familiarity with industry frameworks and standards: NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI, etc.

  • Strong ability to assess technical skill sets and translate them into hiring criteria and candidate fit.

  • Excellent communication skills—able to articulate complex cybersecurity concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Preferred: cybersecurity certifications (CISSP, CISM, Security+, CEH) or equivalent industry training.
