Job Description

The Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) Ship Signatures Department provides services and facilities to acquire and analyze acoustic data in support of surface ship and submarine research and development (R&D) projects. This program provides scientific, engineering, technical, and program management services to support signature guidance and tactical decision aids for naval ships, submarines, air, and shore-based undersea systems.

Increased U.S. Navy operations in shallow, littoral environments and the proliferation of quiet diesel and nuclear submarines necessitate better prediction of the propagation of our signatures to our adversaries and their signatures to us. Providing tactical signature guidance to Antisubmarine Warfare (ASW) operators requires visualization, modeling and training of complex acoustic principles to support the fleet entering hostile waters. Work on this program is within a Collaborative Development Environment (CDE).

This position will perform software development of systems of systems, including data visualization software, external interface design, acoustic data processing software and software engineering.

Requirements & Desired:

REQUIRED ;

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution in Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, or Computer Science or other degree that provides software development expertise equivalent to standard computer science curriculum
• Approximately seven years of experience in some combination of design, development, and implementation of real time acoustic signal processing algorithms, development of parallel processing implementations, service-oriented architecture, signal processing, and real-time data analysis systems or visualization/simulation.
• Approximately four years of experience specific to sonar and/or ASW C2 systems into which signature guidance systems are integrated .
• Proficiency with C++, Java, and Linux.
• One of the following or higher: SSCP; A+; CCNA; Network+
• Clearance: DOD SECRET (interim ) required to start
• Travel: Travel to partner organizations or trainer sites will account for up to 10% of the job scope.

Additional Compensation: Employees that reside in an SBA-designated HUBZone may be eligible for an annual bonus.
