Job Description

New Crane Specialists (NCS) are the experienced industry professionals in our new crane group, as a NCS, your role is to develop relationships with existing customers and cultivate new business selling cranes and overhead material handling equipment. The role of a New Crane Specialist is to lead with a consultative approach, leveraging sales expertise, and knowledge of our products by providing solutions to our customers and potential business partners for their new crane equipment needs.

 

New Crane Specialist (NCS) Role & Responsibilities

  • Follow-up on all branch and industry generated solid leads, referrals, and bid lists, existing and new customer inquiries
  • Meet with new potential customers, provide needed information, and educate them regarding our new crane and overhead material handling equipment offerings.
  • Generate and present new proposals to current and potential business partners.
  • Maintain awareness of customer budgets, and competitive threats in the market, ensuring quotes are competitive and reasonable. Communicate price increases when necessary.
  • Foster a continuing, positive, trusting, and professional relationship with all accounts, acting as a liaison between Crane1 and the business partner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

New Crane Specialist (NCS) Role & Responsibilities

  • KNOWLEDGE:  minimum of (7) years’ industrial crane outside sales experience, or combination of education and experience that illustrates a proven track record in this field.
  • SKILLS:  A competitive nature to meet and exceed sales goals. A track record of strong communication skills.
  • ABILITY:  A passion for providing top-notch customer service to our customers. Valid driver’s license and ability to meet our driving requirements. Ability to travel when needed.

New Crane Specialist (NCS) Responsibility Breakdown (75% of role focus)

  1. Primary effort is to define, generate, qualify, and prospect new crane business targets in a defined territory location.
  2. Maintains and refines FileMaker (CRM) of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, and other sources.
  3. Required to achieve sales goals and quota via an established sales process and plan. 
  4. Represents CRANE 1 within an assigned territory, either in person or by telephone, to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit crane orders.
  5. Collaborates with Crane1 TSM to identify new client referrals and/or business prospects.
  6. Proposes pricing and credit terms and prepares sales contract for orders obtained.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES (25% of role focus)

  1. Tracks and communicates leads, provides customer data for tracking purposes.
  2. Prepares reports of business transactions, track results and keeps expense accounts.
  3. Communicates effectively with Regional Sales Manager sales challenges, successes and needs associated with new crane business generation.
  4. Provides ideas, recommendations, and support regarding new business development.
  5. Stays up to date on sales skills, professional knowledge, and self-training to maximize professional growth and advancement.
  6. Stays up to date on CRANE 1 capabilities, products, services and/or changes regarding sales and customer needs.
