Overview

The three years BA with combination of Psychology, Economics and English is a unique Program which provides career opportunities in three different fields. All three ensure prominent career opportunities. This Program is a mix of Theoretical, practical, and analytical aspects of Economics, Psychology and English.

Economics

The Program contains the papers with inter-disciplinary perspective which are relevant to business and managerial situations. It gives a holistic approach to learn Economic and business environment at national and international level and provide a platform to students to assess the impact of internal and external factors on micro and macroeconomic performance and public policy.

Psychology

The Program provides the psychology students with theoretical foundation and practical knowledge in the areas of organizational psychology, vocational and counselling psychology, clinical psychology, as well as the upcoming fields such as positive psychology, health psychology and environmental psychology.

The degree will be a mix of pure and theoretical psychology as well as practical and applied psychology. Along with in depth knowledge of Psychology, the students are also made well versed with the flair for writing a case study, Training in communication skills, Research and paper writing are a part of course module, Exposure to counselling techniques is provided through workshops and seminars. The students are trained for psychological testing and assessment in a well-equipped psychology laboratory.

English Literature

English literature a literature written in English language which is classified according to a variety of systems including national origin, historical period, genre and subject matter. This program provides students with an excellent education in literature, drama, media and film. The Program is committed to promote an intellectual climate through artistic creation, and innovative ideation. It inculcates among its students a critical reading of the self and the society to transform them into responsible and socially sensitive citizens. The College facilitates their holistic development by building emotional, academic, social, professional and global competencies. 

Key Features

  • Communication – Writer speaks to reader through texts. By exploring the art of communication, we explore relationships between readers, writers and texts.

 

  • Creativity- Creativity is a defining characteristic of human being. By analysing works of creativity, we are studying what it means to be human. 
  • Perspective- Texts offer readers new perspectives on life. Perspective means diversity and developing ability to show empathy.
  • Representation- Fiction can represent reality. Characters can be fair representation of people. By studying texts and literary works, we engage in a dialogue about how the world works ab how the world could be.
  •  Identity- Text is an expression of a writer’s identity. Strong characters challenge readers to be someone different, readers like characters who are thinly veiled versions of themselves.

By analysing texts, we are really analysing who we are and what we want to become.

  • Culture- Text is a product of culture or tradition. Texts express the values and beliefs of a society. Texts shape cultural values. To understand a text is to understand the time and place in which it was written.
  • Transformation- By studying the transformation of texts, we are studying the evolution of humanity.

The Department of Humanities aspires to infuse passion in students to learn and relearn knowledge, values, skills and empathy towards society. Since, the Humanities subjects are the foundation subjects for all the branches of Bachelor of Arts, Department of Humanities imparts to build a firm base as part of the UG & PG Courses.

The Department enhances knowledge in disciplines like Psychology, Economics, English Literature, History, Political Science and Sociology. On one hand it develops the nitty gritty of these domains and on the other hand it makes students ready for shaping their careers in Civil Services and Private Sector. A more emphasis is given on developing the ecosystem for Startups. 

Faculty members perform the role of a perfect facilitator as mentor of students. The methodology adopted in classroom teaching is based on the application of innovation strategies, comprehensive lectures, regular assignments and active interaction between teachers and students.

The department acts as an active catalyst to develop a perfect approach to unlock their hidden talent, personality and communication skills to fulfill the needs of the students.
